About

My name is Sandrine Lonchampt. You are welcome to call me Sand.
I am a counsellor and psychotherapist.
I was born in the French Alps and have lived in Europe, Polynesia, New Zealand, and the United States. Since 2008, I have been grateful to call Australia home, a land I feel deeply connected to.
These experiences have shaped my appreciation for community and the complexity of human life. I speak both English and French, and I bring the richness of this diverse background into my work. This is not just lived history; it also shapes how I listen and what I understand without needing to explain.

My professional training includes a Diploma in Mental Health, a Diploma and a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling and a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I also trained as a crisis support volunteer with Lifeline Australia. I am a registered provisional counsellor (College of Counselling) with PACFA and ACA, and I work under professional supervision.

My path to counselling was not a straight line. I began my career with a Master of Architecture, major in Sociology, in France, then worked as an architect in New Zealand and Polynesia. I gradually moved into Montessori-trained primary school teaching and the arts, working with children and communities across the US and Australia. I ran Artspark Studio in Rozelle, NSW, an art space for all ages centred around creativity, self-expression, and human connection. It was witnessing people navigate loss, change, and the search for meaning that drew me toward counselling and psychotherapy. I wanted to support people more intentionally.

I have a deep love for the wilderness, and a genuine interest in the healing power of our connection to animals and nature, shaping both my personal and professional life.

I continue to engage in ongoing training and professional development, staying informed by current research to ensure my practice remains evidence-based and responsive to each client's needs.

I bring a calm and grounded presence to my practice. Helping people is more than my work. It is my calling and my joy.

I am based in Sydney, NSW, and offer online grief counselling and psychotherapy sessions via secure telehealth to clients across Australia, in English and French.
Beginning a conversation is often the first step. I am always curious to hear about the experiences that bring you here. If you feel ready, you are warmly welcome to reach out.

“The therapist must have the courage to enter the unknown with the person, to bear witness to their suffering, and to help them uncover the hope that lies beneath.”
—Irvin D. Yalom
“We do not find ourselves by accident. We find ourselves through what we survive, what we grieve, and what we allow ourselves to become.”
